Topman (Water & Sewer)

Firma Contracting is currently seeking an experienced Topman to work on underground / water & sewer projects located in Edmonton. We offer competitive wages, work / life balance, great opportunity for advancement, training and potential for work over the winter.

Duties include (but are not limited to): Work with the Lead Hand and foreman to determine work planning and flow Establish grade for water, storm and sanitary pipe Cut and bevel pipe Work closely with the pipelayer to respond to materials needed Rig and assist with supplying materials to the ditch – maintain a high level of communication with the ditch crew and operators to ensure safety, quality and timing Complete site documentation as required Participate in inspections and incidents - address deficiencies / issues through corrective actions Conduct oneself in a professional manner with honesty and integrity

Required Skills: 2+ years of Top Man experience Underground utility rehabilitation / replacement experience is an asset Ability to read blueprints and grade sheets Ability to use an eye level with geodetic capabilities Safety conscious Strong understanding of pipe installation process and flow logistics Competent in the use of various rigging techniques and mechanisms Organized and always one step ahead of the ditch Able to work independently and follow instruction from the foreman Able to support other positions as needed Strong communication skills – provide instructions clearly with sufficient detail Ability to mentor workers for advancement Consistent, reliable and always show up for work fit for duty

Required Certifications: CSTS 2020 WHMIS 2015 Confined Space is an asset Ground Disturbance Level 2 is an asset
