About the role

About Lift Modular Solutions

Lift Modular Solutions is an emerging building technology company focused on advancing next-generation construction systems, integrated delivery methodologies, and scalable building solutions.

The company was formed through a collaboration between a highly experienced multidisciplinary consulting collective and long-standing industry leaders with deep roots in architecture, planning, design, visualization, construction, and development-related services. Our broader group of companies has decades of experience delivering residential, commercial, and large-scale community projects across North America.

Lift was created to bring together real-world construction experience, advanced technical thinking, and innovative building methodologies to help evolve how buildings are designed, coordinated, manufactured, and delivered.

This is not a speculative startup formed around theory alone. The company is being built on the foundation of established industry expertise, active project involvement, existing operational infrastructure, and long-term strategic industry relationships.

Our focus includes:

  • Advanced building systems

  • High-performance assemblies

  • Scalable construction methodologies

  • Integrated design and fabrication thinking

  • Practical constructability

  • Research-driven technical innovation

This is not a traditional architecture role, and it is not a conventional modular housing position. We are building an evolving construction technology platform and are looking for people excited by innovation, systems thinking, and the opportunity to help shape something meaningful from the ground up.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and technically strong Building Science & Technical Systems Lead to join our team.

This role is intended for someone with both architectural and building science experience who enjoys solving technical challenges, developing new systems, refining assemblies, and contributing to the advancement of innovative building technologies.

The successful candidate must possess a strong practical understanding of building science principles developed through direct experience in a building science capacity within an architectural or technical consulting environment.

This is not a conventional architectural technologist position. The role requires someone capable of applying building science knowledge directly to the development of advanced building assemblies, technical detailing strategies, constructability solutions, and evolving system methodologies.

The successful candidate will play a key role in helping establish the company’s technical standards, assembly methodologies, detailing strategies, and system development processes.

This position offers significant growth potential and the opportunity to become a foundational technical leader within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development and refinement of advanced wall, floor, roof, and integrated building assembly systems

  • Develop and maintain technical detailing standards and assembly libraries

  • Support research and development initiatives related to building systems and construction methodologies

  • Apply building science principles related to thermal performance, moisture management, air/vapour control, and durability

  • Assist in the development of scalable technical standards and QA/QC procedures

  • Coordinate with internal teams, consultants, manufacturers, and fabrication partners

  • Develop and maintain Revit-based technical systems, details, and BIM standards

  • Participate in constructability reviews and technical problem-solving

  • Evaluate emerging materials, technologies, and construction approaches

  • Support prototyping, mockups, testing, and iterative system refinement

  • Assist with permitting, code compliance, and technical documentation

  • Contribute to the long-term evolution of the company’s technical platform and construction systems

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience working in a building science capacity within an architectural, technical consulting, or related environment

  • Educational background in Architecture, Architectural Technology, Building Science, or related field

  • Working understanding of MEP systems coordination, integration, and spatial planning is considered a strong asset

  • Strong practical understanding of:

    • Building envelope systems
    • Wall assemblies
    • Thermal bridging
    • Condensation and moisture management
    • Air/vapour barrier strategies
    • Constructability
    • Technical detailing
  • Strong proficiency in Revit

  • Experience preparing technical details and construction documentation

  • Strong organizational and communication skills

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-moving environment

  • Curiosity, adaptability, and enthusiasm for innovation, R&D, and emerging construction technologies

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is someone who:

  • Enjoys technical problem-solving

  • Thinks in systems rather than isolated details

  • Excited by innovation and R&D

  • Excited to help build something new

  • Eager to contribute beyond a traditional role

  • Comfortable working in an evolving and entrepreneurial environment

  • Values practical execution as much as conceptual thinking

Experience with industrialized construction, advanced manufacturing coordination, high-performance assemblies, or scalable building systems is considered an asset, but is not required.

What We Offer

  • Opportunity to help shape an emerging building technology company

  • Exposure to innovative construction systems and methodologies

  • High level of responsibility and technical influence

  • Collaborative and entrepreneurial environment

  • Long-term growth and leadership potential

  • Competitive compensation based on experience

To apply, please submit your resume and portfolio/examples of technical work.

This is a new position and the salary range of $95,000 - $125,000 is dependent on experience and education that the ideal candidate will bring to the role and based on GTA/Toronto market value.

Should you require any accommodation during the recruiting process, please call 289.217.0198.
