About the role

Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. Carpentry/carpenter. Woodworking, general. Asset languages: Swiss German; Alemannic; Alsatian. Work site environment: At heights. Outdoors. Work setting: Construction. Various locations. Commercial. Millwork/pre-fab shopwork. Residential. Wood products manufacturer. Prefab/shop fabrication. Tasks: Prepare estimates of labour and/or material costs. Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements. Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools. Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials. Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems. Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware. Schedule and co-ordinate work on sites. Survey building locations and levels. Instruct apprentices. Assemble door panels, trusses or modular components to make prefabricated housing. Assemble prefabricated parts. Assemble, fit and install prefabricated parts to form subassemblies or finished products. Construct timber supports and cribbing. Supervision: 1 to 2 people. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Carpenter Trade Certification. Carpenter Red Seal Certificate. Type of materials: Wood. Equipment and machinery experience: Hand tools. Planers. Security and safety: Criminal record check. Transportation/travel information: Willing to travel regularly. Valid driver's licence. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Bending, crouching, kneeling. Handling heavy loads. Large workload. Physically demanding. Work with minimal supervision.
