Reporting to the Shift Team Lead – Mine Technology Support, you will support Horizon’s Collision Avoidance System (CAS) and related surface mining communications technologies. Your proven skills in applying leading-edge technologies to complex, high-value operations will ensure your success as you work with other professionals to maximize operating efficiencies and production safety. You will be involved in the evaluation, development, execution, and support of CAS and fleet management communication technologies through collaboration with Mine Operations, Mine Maintenance, and Mine Technical Services groups.
- Job location: Fort McMurray, Alberta - Horizon Oil Sands Site
- Shift schedule: 7x7, 12 hours/shift, days & nights

Key Accountabilities:

Support Dispatch and Mine Operations with CAS and production fleet systems monitoring; assist with the adoption of new technologies

Coordinate installation of new and temporary CAS kits, while maintaining accurate inventory management of communications hardware

Apply Management of Change (MOC) processes; develop, implement, and maintain operational procedures for CAS and mine fleet systems, including establishing and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs)

Participate in incident investigations and reporting, leveraging CAS and mine fleet data to support analysis and outcomes

Troubleshoot and repair communications systems, including Dispatch systems, cellular networks, and hardware installations

Provide ongoing support for mine fleet and CAS technologies, including network monitoring, mobile communication tower relocation, infrastructure maintenance, and systems support

Deliver additional technical and operational support as required across mine technology systems
What You Bring to the Role:
- All levels of experience will be considered, with preference given to those candidates with demonstrated knowledge of surface mining operations, mine technologies, telecom and network communications
- Telecommunication, Electrical, or Information Technology degree/diploma from an accredited university or college
- Positive attitude, coupled with a strong desire to solve technical challenges
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, network monitoring tools and reporting
- Experience working in a team environment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
