Pinchin is seeking an Intermediate**‑**Senior Civil / Environmental Engineer – Water Resources to join our Emissions Reduction and Compliance team in Mississauga, ON. The role reports to the Operations Manager.

Role Overview

This position is intended for an engineer with Ontario‑based design experience, who is operating at an advanced intermediate level and transitioning into senior responsibility. The successful candidate will be expected to take technical ownership of water resources assignments while working within Pinchin’s structured project execution and peer‑review framework.

Reporting to Operations Manager – Water, you will play a key role in planning, designing, modelling, and reviewing stormwater management and drainage systems, while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and advising clients with confidence and credibility.

Your Impact

In this role, you will be relied upon for both technical depth and practical problem‑solving:

  • Undertake and support the design of stormwater management and water resources engineering projects for commercial, industrial, municipal, and provincial clients
  • Apply hydrologic and hydraulic analysis to the planning and design of drainage systems, stormwater facilities, and watercourse works
  • Design and assess:
    • Stormwater management facilities (quantity and quality control)
    • Low Impact Development (LID) measures
    • Storm sewer systems
    • Open channels and modified or natural watercourses
  • Complete hydrotechnical evaluations and designs in support of:
  • Industrial, Commercial and Institutional (ICI) infrastructure projects
  • Municipal infrastructure projects
  • MTO roadway, drainage, and structure designs
  • Conduct and review watercourse management assessments, including:
  • Erosion control
  • Water quality considerations
  • Slope stability
  • Natural channel design and restoration
  • Support watershed and sub-watershed studies and floodplain mapping assignments
  • Prepare technical reports, calculations, and drawings suitable for submission to municipalities, conservation authorities, and provincial agencies
  • Coordinate with internal multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders
  • Provide technical guidance to junior staff and participate in internal peer review
  • Contribute technical input to proposals and project planning, as required

What You’ll Bring to Pinchin

The ideal candidate is technically independent, values collaboration and structured peer review, has hands‑on experience with Ontario regulatory approval processes, and communicates effectively with clients, regulators, and project teams.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering (Water Resources focus)
  • 8+ years of Ontario‑based experience in stormwater management and water resources design (commercial, industrial, and public infrastructure projects)
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation with PEO
  • Experience in other provinces (e.g., BC or Alberta) is an asset
  • Strong hydrotechnical experience, including stormwater facilities, LIDs, storm sewers, and watercourses
  • Experience supporting commercial/industrial developments, municipal infrastructure, and MTO projects
  • Practical knowledge of watercourse management, erosion control, water quality, slope stability, and natural channel design
  • Experience with watershed studies and floodplain mapping
  • Proficiency with hydraulic and hydrologic modelling tools (SWMM, HEC‑RAS, or equivalent)
  • Proficiency with design and drafting software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, OpenRoads) and GIS applications
  • Strong understanding of Ontario municipal standards, conservation authority requirements, and applicable regulatory frameworks (MECP, MTO, MNRF, CHBDC)
