Maintenance Planning Associate – Mechanical

Reports to: Area Manager - Maintenance

Salary: starting at $70,000

About the role

Stelco has an immediate opening for a Maintenance Planning Associate - Mechanical at our Lake Erie Works Facility located in Nanticoke, ON. This is an existing vacancy.

The The Maintenance Planning Associate at Stelco is an entry level position for a new college or university graduate.

Safety is the Core Value of Stelco and the individual will make Safety the #1 priority in the execution of all work activities, including monitoring contractor/vendor safety in support of work efforts.

Your day-to-day

  • Administration of the Stelco safety program to ensure a safe work environment within the Operating facility
  • Making design modifications to existing equipment to reduce maintenance, improve reliability and improve product quality
  • Performing equipment failure analysis and making appropriate recommendations
  • Reviewing proposed equipment replacement or upgrades, including capital projects with multi-million dollar budgets
  • Working with consultants and equipment vendors to ensure process requirements and applicable standards and codes are met
  • Engage in maintenance planning functions to minimize downtime
  • Investigate process improvements and participate in facilities upgrades

What you bring to the table

Job Qualifications

  • Recent Diploma in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering Technology
  • 0 – 2 years of professional work experience

  • Good interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Good problem solving skills
  • Ability and desire to work in a shop floor environment
  • Good computer skills
  • An enthusiastic approach and ability to learn quickly and assume responsibility
  • As an individual contributor, qualified candidates for this role also must demonstrate the ability to champion change and effective communication while contributing to team success.

Your work environment

  • Both office and mill conditions, wearing PPE will be required
  • Safe production is a core value of our organization. All work must be performed in accordance with established safety procedures and guidelines. This includes the mandatory use of company‑issued personal protective equipment such as hard hats, eye protection, hearing protection, respirators, flame‑resistant clothing, and safety footwear with metatarsal protection throughout the work shift
  • Valid driver's license and vehicle required
