ZyTech  building systems is a leading professional services company specializing in wood residential and commercial building engineering in Western Canada region.  We partner with customers to deliver projects and create value over the life of their assets.

Position Summary

ZyTech building systems is looking for an Intermediate Structural Engineer to join our team with 6 to 8 years of professional engineering experience in wood and concrete residential and commercial building projects. While based in Alberta, this position primarily provides engineering support for projects in Manitoba and Alberta. You’ll collaborate closely with our sales team and builders to deliver safe, efficient, and innovative structural solutions.

What you’ll own

  • Engineer structures that matter — Wood and concrete residential and commercial buildings. Steel design experience is an asset
  • Take full ownership of design and repair work calculations, technical detailing, preparation of municipal permit documents, site inspections and preparation of reports for wood structures, including roof trusses, floor I-joists and tall walls
  • Collaborate directly with the sales team, builder, and the EOR to deliver projects on time, satisfying all client needs
  • Engage in design reviews and help elevate the quality of every project
  • Mentor junior team members and share your growing knowledge

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.

  • P.Eng. designation in Canada

  • 6 to 8+ years of structural design experience in Canada

  • Min. 4 years of direct involvement with wood building structural design and inspections

  • Strong knowledge of Canadian building codes and relevant design standards. Full knowledge of CSA O86, and A23.3, and the NBC building codes including Part 4 and Part 9.

  • Hands-on experience with software tools like ETABS, SAP200, SAFE, MiTek, or similar software

  • Excellent communication skills and confidence in client interactions

  • A growth mindset, and a desire to take on more responsibility in a highly fast-paced environment

  • Strong attention to detail, integrity, and a commitment to high-quality work.
