About the role
Each of us cares about someone who will need medicines. That's why our vision is to repeatedly beat the odds to deliver breakthrough medicines to patients that need them. We pursue truth and scientific rigour and have the courage to work at the edge of the unknown.
We are looking for a hands-on Systems Administrator to keep our IT infrastructure running smoothly for every team that depends on it: from drug discovery through development and the business behind it. You'll work across cloud systems, on-prem infrastructure, and the platform and tools that support in-house applications. This is a generalist role for someone who is curious, technically broad, and energized by variety; one day you're improving service availability, the next you're troubleshooting scientific system performance, the next you're automating away a process that's been costing the team hours each week. We're looking for someone who's already done this kind of work - running real infrastructure in a production environment - and who's hungry to keep learning as the environment modernizes around them.
How you might spend your days
- Operating, maintaining, and supporting our hybrid systems and infrastructure; we operate a mixed environment including cloud (AWS) and on-prem
- Supporting engineering systems, platforms, and tools that our internal developers and scientists use to build and run in-house applications
- Troubleshooting issues across systems, networking, identity, and access; exercising judgment on unusual problems and adapting existing approaches when there isn't a clear precedent
- Partnering with engineering and scientific teams to support integrations between corporate IT, lab instruments, and in-house platforms
- Digging deeply into your managed systems; automating routine operational work and improving availability and efficiency
- Owning patching, monitoring, and documentation practices across your managed systems
We'd love to hear from you if
- You're a hands-on technical generalist who's run cloud and on-prem environments in production, and you've developed instincts for what tends to break and why
- You work with modern practices by default; infrastructure-as-code, automation, and observability are tools you reach for, not afterthoughts
- You have 5+ years of related experience operating production infrastructure, in addition to a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience in a technical field); candidates with 3+ years of related experience in addition to a Master's degree will also be considered
- You bring strong judgment to unusual problems; you know when to adapt an existing approach, when to escalate, and when to push back on a bad one
- You're deeply curious about how systems work end-to-end, tools you haven't used yet, and the science your work supports
- You communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical individuals, and bring solid documentation habits
- You have experience in scientific or manufacturing environments, or working in regulated industries (GxP, SOC2, etc.); this is considered a bonus!

About AbCellera
Creating medicines is the most important work we can do.
We are a clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on discovering and developing antibody-based medicines in the areas of endocrinology, women's health, immunology, and oncology. We have built a platform for advancing antibody drug programs from target to clinic, and we are using it to build our internal pipeline.
Today, our pipeline includes two drug candidates in clinical development, two preclinical development candidates (DCs) in Investigational New Drug (IND)-enabling activities, and more than 20 active discovery programs across multiple modalities and indications.
We believe that when tenacious people share a vision and work together, they can truly have a positive impact. That's why we hire for character and intelligence, not just for CVs or experience.
We look for people with drive and energy. People we trust. People who need to know their days are being well spent. That their work really matters. In the end, our success will be measured by the impact of our medicines.
