Senior Cloud Engineer
JOB DESCRIPTION The Nationwide Group (TNG) is a pioneer in designing and developing outsourced financial services software, exclusively focused on creating comprehensive and customizable solutions for the real estate industry. POSITION DETAILS: The Cloud Engineer role will be responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and maintaining secure, scalable, and highly available cloud infrastructure to support TNG’s digital operations. Blending cloud engineering with DevOps practices, this role plays a critical part in driving cloud strategy, automating infrastructure and deployments, administering Linux servers and web services, optimizing system performance, and ensuring the reliable, secure delivery of cloud-based services.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design and implement AWS-based infrastructure solutions to support fintech applications with high availability and low latency. Automate infrastructure provisioning using Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar IaC tools. Automate the deployment process with Github Actions to ensure rapid, reliable, and repeatable releases. Monitor and optimize cloud performance using CloudWatch, X-Ray, and third-party tools like Datadog or New Relic. Implement and enforce security best practices using IAM, KMS, VPC, Security Groups, and AWS Config. Ensure compliance with financial regulations (e.g., SOC 2, PCI DSS) through infrastructure design and documentation. Collaborate with DevOps, Security, and Development teams to support application deployment and incident response. Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux servers (e.g., Ubuntu, CentOS), including applying security patches and updates, system monitoring, and performance tuning. Set up, maintain, and optimize web servers and reverse proxies (e.g., Nginx, Apache) for secure, high-performance application deployment. Perform regular security assessments, vulnerability scans, and penetration testing, and develop and enforce security policies and procedures. Manage containerized workloads using ECS, EKS, or Fargate. Lead the cloud and DevOps function, providing technical direction, setting standards and best practices, mentoring engineers, and managing team priorities, professional development, and delivery.

Required: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in cloud engineering with a strong focus on AWS. Proficiency in scripting (Python, Bash) and automation. Experience with infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD tools. Solid understanding of networking, security, and cloud architecture. Experience in a regulated environment, preferably in fintech or financial services. Proficiency in Linux server administration (e.g., Ubuntu, CentOS), shell scripting, and system performance tuning. Experience configuring and maintaining web servers and reverse proxies (Nginx, Apache) and application server configurations. In-depth understanding of security principles, practices, and tools. Self-starter who works independently, takes ownership of outcomes, and proactively identifies and resolves issues in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Preferred: AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer). Familiarity with financial compliance standards and secure coding practices.
