Your future role on our team

You’ll have the opportunity to work on a dynamic, multidisciplinary team and will provide technical support to the engineers on the mining team. You’ll also be expected to work closely with other team members who specialize in open-pit and underground mining and perform any other tasks necessary to achieve the team’s objectives.

• Provide technical support to underground mining engineers and geologists for underground mine studies (conceptual, pre-feasibility, feasibility, detailed design and NI 43-101 technical reports), including:

• Importing block models

• Helping select underground mine methods

• Calculating cut-off grades, dilution and mining recovery

• Optimizing underground stopes and mine design

• Helping optimize mining methods

• Supporting mine planning and production scheduling

• Contributing to equipment fleet calculations

• Conducting trade-off studies

• Supporting the steps leading to mineral reserve assessment

• Participating in capital expenditure (CAPEX) and operating expense (OPEX) estimates

• Helping write technical study reports

Summary of certifications and job requirements

• College diploma in mineral technology (mining or geology)
• Eight or more years of experience in underground mining
• Knowledge of underground mining methods
• Proficiency with mining software, ideally the Deswik.Sched module from Deswik
• Intermediate English skills to facilitate collaboration with other BBA offices and/or clients located in English-speaking Canadian provinces and abroad; you may need to use English occasionally or daily, depending on current projects
• Advanced French skills to facilitate collaboration with other BBA offices and/or clients in Québec
