Overview:
This position is located in Inuvik, NT - this is not a remote/rotational position and requires the successful candidate to relocate/live in Inuvik.
Under the direction of the Manager Maintenance Services, the Maintenance Planner will plan and coordinate various mechanical and electrical maintenance activities required to achieve optimum reliability through efficient use of human resources, time, equipment and material in the Energy North Operations (ENO) Division. The primary responsibility is to eliminate waste from maintenance activities through planning and preliminary scheduling of service activities as well as optimize capital planning decisions based on maintenance costs and schedules. The Maintenance Planner is accountable for driving continuous improvement of maintenance activities, through supporting the Manager Maintenance Services. One of the key drivers of this role is to ensure the Tradesperson's tool time is maximized.
Under the general direction and supervision of the Manager Maintenance Services the incumbent assists in the planning for day-to-day operation and maintenance of diesel and natural gas plants, wind turbine, solar and battery energy storage systems. You will also assist the Manager Maintenance Services and other divisional management in planning and directing regional goals, objectives and programs. The incumbent also works closely with Plant Operators and Superintendents and the Manager Plant Operations for the Beaufort Delta region to ensure continuous operations and interfaces with the Projects and Engineering Division.
Responsibilities:
- Always work safely, adhere to all aspects of the NTPC Health, Safety and Environment programs, comply with all rules and regulations, and continually practice health and safety while performing any duties.
- Ensure the safety of other employees, contractors and the general public in the workplace by:
i. reporting any failure to adhere to safety practises or rules
ii. providing detailed orientations and identification of hazards to all visitors
iii. remove hazards or make the workplace safe when leaving a work area
- Participate in the continuous improvement of the Health, Safety and Environment programs as well as NTPC’s safety culture.
- Under the direction of the Manager Maintenance Services, oversee, monitor, and prepare requisitions, special work orders, general contracts, specifications, and authorization forms as required for assigned maintenance projects on general plant maintenance, vehicle maintenance, building maintenance, yard maintenance and fuel storage facility maintenance.
- Minimizes costs and maximize equipment reliability and availability through planned maintenance.
- Responsible for ensuring the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) is maintained and is updated regularly. Serves as a champion and trainer for employees in using the CMMS.
- Initiates repairs and equipment replacement in the event of equipment failure by preparing work orders, ordering material and parts and effectively utilizing human and financial resources.
Qualifications:
- Mechanical, Electrical, or Electrical Technologist diploma with 5 years related experience, including experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and process plant experience. A journeyperson certificate with considerable related experience will be considered as an equivalency.
- A full valid Class 5 driver's license is required.
- Extensive knowledge in computer applications normally acquired through several years experience and or formal training is required. Programs include word processing, spreadsheets, database, scheduling, electronic mail/internet and Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) programs.
- Good planning, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
- A team player with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Requires experience in preparing capital and operating budgets.
- Requires extensive experience in the production and distribution of power.
- Requires good analytical and diagnostic skills with problem solving competence.
- A satisfactory criminal record check.
This is a bargaining unit position. Salary for this position ranges from $54.10/hr to $65.72/hr plus a location allowance of $11,808 per annum. This position is located in Inuvik, NT. Relocation assistance may be provided.
