Role Description The Heavy Equipment Mechanic is a full-time, on-site role based at Goodman Steel Ltd. in Rocanville 151, SK. This role is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing heavy equipment, vehicles, and related mechanical systems used in fabrication, machining, and industrial operations. Day-to-day tasks include performing scheduled preventive maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues, and carrying out repairs on gearboxes, transmissions, pumps, and power units. The mechanic will work closely with machinists and welders to coordinate equipment downtime, ensure safe operation of machinery, and maintain accurate maintenance records. The role also involves adhering to company safety standards, following technical manuals and service documentation, and supporting continuous improvement of equipment reliability and performance. Qualifications Strong skills in Equipment Maintenance and Vehicle Maintenance, with experience performing preventive and corrective service on heavy machinery and support vehicles. Proven abilities in Equipment Repair and Heavy Equipment diagnostics, including working on gearboxes, transmissions, pumps, power units, and hydraulic systems. Effective Troubleshooting skills for mechanical, hydraulic, and basic electrical issues, using diagnostic tools, technical manuals, and systematic problem-solving. Relevant trade certification or apprenticeship as a Heavy Equipment Technician, Industrial Mechanic (Millwright), or equivalent experience in an industrial or mining environment. Knowledge of safe work practices, lockout/tagout procedures, and adherence to company and regulatory safety standards. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, service manuals, and parts catalogs, with solid attention to detail and documentation skills. Physical capability to perform hands-on mechanical work, including lifting, standing, and working in industrial shop and field environments. Strong teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with machinists, welders, and supervisors.
