About the role

Location: Barrie, Ontario
*Education: *Completion of college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training
Major Work Area: Heavy steel & machinery fabrication & welding & fitting
Type of Establishment/Work Setting Experience: Manufacturing
Industrial Area of Specialization: Custom fabrication, Manufacturing machinery and equipment, Structural steel manufacturing, Measurements, metric and imperial, Familiarity with all machines and hand tools in a factory setting
Welding Techniques: Shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), Metal core arc welding (MCAW), Flux core arc welding (FCAW), Plasma arc cutting (PAW), Automated, Tack, Multipass, Carbon arc gouging.
Type of Machine Experience: Gas cutting machines, Arc welding machines, Saw, Iron worker, Oxy fuel cutting, Overhead cranes
Welding Positions: Flat, Horizontal, Vertical, Overhead, SMAW
Materials: Heavy Structural Steel
Weight Handling: Up to 45 kg (100 lbs)
Specific Skills: Reading and interpreting blue prints, Welding, Fitting, Interpret welding process specifications, Operate manual or semi-automatic, fully automated welding equipment, Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment, Fit, torch-straighten metal, Operate oxygen arc cutting equipment (arc-air), (AOC), Operate drill presses, Select filler rods, Perform post welding heat treatment, Safely operate cranes, hoisting and lifting equipment, Prepare jigs or set-ups for welding, Operate previously set-up welding machines to fabricate metal parts and products, Maintain and perform minor repairs on welding equipment
Additional Skills: Welding, Fitting, Read and interpret blueprints, drawings specifications, manuals and processes, Examine welds and ensure that they meet standards and/or specifications.
Security and Safety: Bondable, Basic security clearance, Criminal record check
Own Tools/Equipment: Steel-toed safety boots, Welding helmet, Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Fast-paced environment, Handling heavy loads, Physically demanding, Manual dexterity, Attention to detail, Hand-eye co-ordination, Standing for extended periods
Work Site Environment: Indoor/ Outdoors, Sometimes at heights
Transportation/Travel Information: Own transportation, Willing to travel, Valid driver's license

Compensation will be determined based on current certifications/tickets and years of experience.
