Role Description The Geotech and Environmental Driller is a full-time, on-site role based in Kelowna, BC. This role involves operating both track and truck mounted drilling rigs and related heavy equipment to complete geotechnical and environmental investigations in various field conditions. Day-to-day responsibilities include setting up drill sites, advancing boreholes, collecting soil and rock samples, installation of monitoring wells and soil vapour probes, and, if required consultant directed instrumentation. The driller follows project specifications, safety procedures, and environmental regulations while coordinating with field supervisors, engineers, and clients. The position also includes routine equipment inspections, basic maintenance, and safe transport of tools and machinery to and from job sites.
Qualifications Strong skills and experience with Heavy Equipment and Drill Rig operation relevant to drilling activities. Hands-on Drilling experience, preferably in geotechnical and environmental applications. Knowledge of Drilling techniques and their safe and effective application. Ability to perform thorough Inspection of drilling equipment and work sites to ensure safety and compliance. Familiarity with Oil & Gas drilling environments or related field work is an asset. Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; ability to travel to various job sites. Understanding of workplace health, safety, and environmental regulations; commitment to safe work practices. Physical ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and handle manual labor tasks. Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a field crew environment. Previous experience in geotechnical, environmental, or construction field work is preferred.
