The Technologist role is critical to dyke safety, supporting geotechnical decision-making through field monitoring, data analysis, and risk identification. It combines surveillance, instrumentation, automation support, and timely issue escalation to help ensure reliable dyke performance.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Geomatics/Civil Technology Diploma or similar
  • 3 to 5 years working in mining/heavy civil construction
  • Experience with or working knowledge of Microsoft Suites and CAD an asset

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct scheduled instrumentation readings in assigned areas and ensure field data are promptly uploaded to the Damon Database system
  • Review monitoring data for accuracy, identify anomalies, and escalate concerns to the Geotechnical Performance Engineer
  • Perform routine visual inspections of dyke surfaces and document findings through monthly surveillance reports
  • Report adverse dyke conditions through GIOs, NCRs, or immediate notification to the appropriate personnel when urgent action is required
  • Maintain accurate records of active and inactive instruments, and identify faulty equipment for calibration, maintenance, and replacement planning
  • Maintain and troubleshoot the automated instrumentation telemetry network and support field automation initiatives within the dyke performance program, while providing end-of-shift reports on current issues

Location and other Key details:

  • You will work out of Suncor Base Plant in Fort McMurray, Alberta
  • Your shift will be 4 on 5 off, 5 on 4 off, straight days
