JOB SUMMARY NuStef Baking Ltd. is a Canadian food manufacturer known across North America for its unique line of specialty, artisan style cookies and crisps (“NuStef”). NuStef produces a unique Italian style waffle cookie branded Reko pizzelle and artisan crisps under its Kii Naturals and The Crisp Bakery brands. NuStef also produces private label products for some of the largest retailers in North America.
Products are baked fresh to order; cookies are sold primarily in the in-store bakery (“ISB”) department and our crisps are sold primarily in the deli department or specialty cracker section at most regional and national retailers. NuStef is based in Toronto, Canada and operates two manufacturing facilities.
For almost 40 years, we have perfected a multi-generational authentic recipe from Italy's Abruzzo region. Reko pizzelles are naturally flavored and baked in a peanut-free facility, resulting in crisp, delicate flavors that are addictively delicious!
Kii Naturals artisan crisps, combine authentic fresh ingredients, hand-crafted in small batches.Double-baked for a satisfying crunch, each artisan crisp holds a delightful burst of flavorful fruit, nuts or seeds. Kii Naturals artisan crisps have no preservatives, GMOs or trans fats, and are perfect for charcuterie boards, snacks, and sharing with friends.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervise, co-ordinate and schedule the activities of production workers in our bakery; mixing, baking and packaging. Establish methods to meet targets for safety, quality, cost, delivery and employee morale. Resolve work problems and recommend measures to improve productivity and product quality Check materials and products against demand and complete required production reports. Ensure processing machines are performing at maximum efficiency by being aware of the basic operational processes of the machines and knowing how to resolve simple irregularities. Immediately report large scale mechanical failures to maintenance personnel or Production Manager. Train staff in job duties, health and safety procedures, plant sanitation and company policies Recommend Human Resources actions such as new hires, onboarding, promotions, work performance, discipline and terminations. Be responsible for food safety and H&S, ensuring all teams follow procedures and best practices. Track and report employee time and attendance for payroll processing Help to write SOP’s and Job function documents and keep them updated when things change Ensure all daily metrics are met from safety, quality, production, cost and morale. Other related duties as may be required in the day-to-day operations of the Ensure work area, tools and supplies are kept organized and sanitary throughout the shift. Follow all GMP’s and Safety Procedures as outlined by company policy Adhere to all proper guarding and lock out procedures QUALIFICATIONS: Completion of post-secondary education in Business, Food Processing or Engineering 3 - 5 year’s Supervisory experience in a food processing environment Previous experience with BRC or SQF and HACCP is an asset Experience working with GMP best practices Aptitude for detail, accuracy and prioritizing responsibilities Ability to comprehend basic verbal and written instructions (English). Additional languages an asset Competency using Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, Word, Outlook) Basic math skills (Addition-Subtraction-Multiplication-Division). Ability to write clearly and legibly. Work with Minimal supervision Basic Computer Knowledge Knowledge of Syspro and/or any other ERP system is considered and asset Strong Organization skills. Adaptable to changing conditions
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Be able to stand for prolonged periods of time Lift and push up to 60Ibs Being able to perform repetitive tasks. Flexibility to work different shifts and overtime
