Role Description The VFD and Servo Application Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in the Greater Toronto Area, Canada. This role focuses on providing application-level support for VFD and servo drive systems, including selection, sizing, configuration, commissioning, and troubleshooting. Day-to-day responsibilities include supporting customers and sales teams with technical inquiries, reviewing application requirements, and recommending appropriate drive and motion solutions. The engineer will program and fine-tune drive parameters, perform on-site start-ups, assist with system integration, and conduct functional testing. The role also involves preparing technical documentation, wiring diagrams, and application notes, as well as delivering product training and demos to customers, partners, and internal teams. Collaboration with product management and engineering to relay field feedback, support product improvements, and assist in resolving complex technical issues is also expected. Qualifications Strong foundation in Electrical Engineering, with knowledge of power electronics, motor control, and industrial automation; Mechanical Engineering knowledge related to motion systems, load characteristics, and mechanical integration is an asset. Experience in Technical Support for VFDs, servo drives, or related automation products, including remote and on-site troubleshooting, customer guidance, and issue resolution. Proficiency in Testing of drive and motion systems, including parameter validation, functional and performance testing, and verification of system reliability and safety. Familiarity with Software Development or scripting for drive configuration tools, PLC interfaces, or motion control (e.g., ladder logic, function blocks, or other automation programming environments) is preferred. Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Controls, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Hands-on experience with AC induction and servo motors, field wiring, control panels, and industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, CAN, EtherNet/IP, PROFINET) is highly beneficial. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and technical specifications; strong documentation skills for reports and manuals. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex technical topics to diverse audiences and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. Self-directed
