About the role
Education: Registered Apprenticeship certificate. Work site environment: Noisy. Dusty. Hot. Cold/refrigerated. Confined spaces. Work setting: Maintenance. Repair. Commercial. Industrial. Installation. Tasks: Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements . Select type of insulation required. Measure and cut insulating materials to required shape and dimensions using hand and power tools. Apply and secure insulation using spraying, blowing, pasting, strapping, taping and other application and installation methods. Fit insulation around obstructions and between joists and studs. Brush waterproofing cement or other material over insulating materials. Assemble, erect and dismantle scaffolding, rigging and hoisting equipment. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Insulator Trade Certification. Insulator Red Seal Certificate. Insulator (heat and frost) Trade Certification. Types of systems: Plumbing, cold water and drain lines. Ventilation and exhaust. Stacks and furnace flues. Hot water system and equipment. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Own transportation. Own vehicle. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Physically demanding. Handling heavy loads. Standing for extended periods. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Manual dexterity.
