About the role
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work setting: Construction. Various locations. Commercial. Residential. Tasks: Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements. Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials. Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware. Maintain, repair and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants and other establishments. Prepare and maintain work materials and supplies. Inspect wood products for conformance to quality standards. Inspect assemblies for alignment, symmetry, dimensions, fit and quality of workmanship. Fit and assemble components using hand and power tools. Assemble, fit and install pre-fabricated parts and subassemblies. Follow emergency and safety procedures. Maintain clean and safe work environment. Ensure safety procedures are followed. Coordinate work activities to ensure projects meet deadlines and budgets. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Large workload. Physically demanding. Tight deadlines. Own tools/equipment: Safety equipment/gear. Steel-toed safety boots.
