Role Description The Senior Environmental Scientist is a full-time, on-site role based in Gander, NL. This role leads environmental programs in support of exploration, development, and operations, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and company standards. Day-to-day responsibilities include planning and conducting field work, coordinating environmental baseline and monitoring studies, and overseeing wetland and habitat assessments. The Senior Environmental Scientist prepares and reviews environmental impact assessments, supports permit applications, and provides technical guidance to project teams and external consultants. The role also involves collaborating with regulatory agencies, Indigenous groups, and local communities, maintaining accurate documentation, and contributing to continuous improvement in environmental performance and risk management. Qualifications Strong background in Environmental Science with experience applying scientific principles in mining or resource development settings. Demonstrated experience with Field Work, including planning, data collection, sampling methodologies, and site inspections. Knowledge of Wetlands and related habitat assessment, classification, and mitigation measures. Experience conducting Environmental Impact Assessment activities, including baseline studies, impact analysis, and reporting. Exposure to Environmental Consulting, such as working with multidisciplinary teams, external stakeholders, and regulatory bodies. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, or a related discipline. Familiarity with Canadian federal and provincial environmental regulations, particularly in Newfoundland and Labrador. Strong analytical, writing, and reporting skills, with attention to detail and data quality. Ability to work safely on-site in variable field conditions and travel to project locations as required. Experience in mining or natural resources, and professional designation (e.g., P.Geo, P.Biol, R.P.Bio, or equivalent) are considered assets.
