Build a career solving real-world industrial automation challenges. If you're the type of person who loves technology, enjoys solving complex problems, and wants to see your work make a real impact, you'll fit right in at DCD Engineering. For more than 30 years, DCD Engineering has designed and delivered industrial automation and control systems for clients across North America. Every system we build helps clients operate more safely, efficiently, and reliably.

We believe people develop through experience. That's why you'll have opportunities to contribute to meaningful projects, work directly with clients, take on increasing responsibility, and learn alongside experienced engineers from day one. You'll be involved throughout the full project lifecycle—from design and programming through testing, commissioning, startup, and ongoing client support—giving you the opportunity to see the impact of your work firsthand.

Why you'll enjoy working at DCD When you join DCD Engineering, you'll have the opportunity to: Work on projects ranging from system enhancements to large-scale industrial automation projects. Take on meaningful responsibility while learning from experienced Professional Engineers. Work directly with clients early in your career, building trusted relationships and solving real operational challenges. Gain exposure to a wide range of industries, technologies, and disciplines, including industrial software, automation and control system design, commissioning, and OT cybersecurity. Be part of a collaborative team that values curiosity, initiative, and continuous improvement. We're looking for people who want to build a long-term career—not simply find their next job.

The role As a Control Systems Engineer, you'll contribute to the design, development, testing, and commissioning of industrial control systems and software solutions. Your responsibilities will include: Designing industrial control systems and system architecture. Developing PLC, HMI, DCS, and SCADA applications. Testing, validating, and commissioning control systems. Supporting plant startups, shutdowns, and ongoing client operations. Working directly with clients to understand operational challenges and develop practical automation solutions. Collaborating with engineers and engineering technologists on multidisciplinary projects. No two projects are the same, giving you the opportunity to continually expand your technical expertise while solving a wide variety of industrial automation challenges.

You'll be a great fit if... You're naturally curious and enjoy figuring out how things work. You ask thoughtful questions, enjoy solving complex technical problems, and are motivated to keep learning. You take ownership of your work. You're proactive, dependable, and comfortable taking on new challenges while learning from experienced teammates. You enjoy working with people as much as technology. You communicate clearly, build strong relationships, and can explain technical concepts in practical ways. You're adaptable and resilient. Some projects, particularly plant shutdowns and commissioning activities, involve tight timelines and demanding schedules. You stay calm under pressure, adapt when priorities change, and enjoy being part of a team that delivers quality work when it matters most. Most importantly, you're looking for a place where you can make a meaningful contribution while continuing to grow as an engineer. What you'll bring We're looking for someone with: A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering. Candidates with a degree in Chemical Process Control Engineering and a strong interest in industrial automation are also encouraged to apply. A genuine interest in industrial automation and process control. Co-op or internship experience is considered a strong asset. Experience with PLC, HMI, DCS, or SCADA systems. Familiarity with industrial communications and networking. Eligibility for registration with APEGA as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (P.Eng.). Experience with OT Cybersecurity is considered an asset. We know great engineers come from a variety of backgrounds and experiences. If you're excited about industrial automation, enjoy solving problems, and believe you'd be a great fit for our team—even if you don't meet every qualification—we'd encourage you to apply.

What we offer Competitive compensation. Comprehensive benefits. Meaningful mentorship from experienced engineers. Exposure to diverse industries, technologies, and projects.
