About the Role At Suncor, the Specialist Production Engineer position plays a critical role in protecting people, the environment, and asset performance across our In Situ operations. This role combines engineering expertise, field coordination, and cross-functional leadership to manage current and emerging well integrity risks. The successful candidate will lead and strengthen well integrity programs, while mentoring internal teams and embedding industry best practices through active participation in joint industry initiatives. We also help you save for your future by offering pension programs, and savings plans with company matching Benefits: utilize an employee assistance program and comprehensive company-paid health, dental, and vision benefits for you and your family to support your mental, physical, and financial well-being Generous time-off: enjoy generous paid vacation time and personal time-off to recharge and maintain a healthy work-life balance Talent development programs: Internal mobility, succession planning, and employee training and development programs are just a few ways we’re dedicated to your development Minimum Requirements: Lead well integrity activities across Suncor’s In Situ assets in alignment with Operational Excellence Management Systems and corporate Well Integrity Management Best Practices Develop, implement, and maintain a full life cycle Well Integrity Management Strategy, including governance, KPIs, processes, workflows, job aids, and tracking systems for key risk areas such as surface casing vent flows, gas migration, casing integrity, wellhead maintenance, and well erosion / corrosion management Partner with cross-functional teams on well integrity design, strategy, execution, and continuous improvement initiatives, including risk reviews and root cause investigations for well integrity failures Identify, monitor, and mitigate well integrity risks, and support prevention and repair programs related to casing, liner, cement, and wellhead failures Provide technical guidance to development, drilling, completions, and operations teams on regulatory requirements, industry best practices, well construction, repair methods, logging, remedial cementing, suspension, and abandonment activities Support the development of electronic well integrity systems and dashboards for inspection, maintenance, monitoring, and reporting, while working with regulatory teams and asset owners to communicate with the Alberta Energy Regulator Serve as a technical subject matter expert in well integrity, including interpretation of cased hole logs, application of emerging technologies, and collaboration with internal and external well integrity experts, At times collaborate with Suncor’s East Coast - offshore well integrity team Maintain a strong field presence to assess operational risks, coordinate repair activities, build relationships with field teams, and support Suncor’s Environment, Health, and Safety objectives Don’t have all the qualifications listed? Responsibilities: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and registered, or immediately eligible for registration, as a Professional Engineer with APEGA 10+ years of oil and gas industry experience, including thermal drilling, completions, production, and operations, with strong well integrity experience preferred Broad interest and knowledge in well integrity, including wellbore design and construction, material science, drilling and completions, subsurface engineering, and production operations Cased hole - well integrity logging expertise preferred Strong communication, organization, collaboration, and accountability skills, with the ability to clearly engage stakeholders across varying levels of technical knowledge and seniority Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with data analytics and management systems related to well integrity, combined with a continuous improvement mindset and curiosity to deepen technical understanding Location and other Key details: The position will be based at the Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Center at 150 – 6th Ave S.W Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday with business travel to site.
