About the role

Envision Consultants Ltd. is looking for a bright, motivated, team-oriented person to join our team as a Laboratory Services Technician. Ideal candidates will be motivated to work with a growing, fast-paced team, possessing excellent verbal and written communications skills, problem solving skills, and the ability to manage internal and external relationships.

As a Lab Services Technician, you will:

  • Provide technical services in a lab and office environment;
  • Provide technical assistance in materials related projects and tasks, including carrying out laboratory testing of various materials and if required on construction sites and obtain samples for testing in accordance with specifications.
  • Assist in construction site reconnaissance, inspections and observations;
  • Assist carrying out fieldwork inspections;
  • Use specialized equipment and apparatus to prepare analyses, reports and/or technical drawings;
  • Summarize and analyze findings from investigations and lab testing for report writing; and,
  • Work with and provide support to other members of the group in assisting with other field and office activities as required.

To apply to this position, you should expect to have:

  • A College Diploma in a Civil Engineering Technician / Technology or Construction Engineering Technician / Technology diploma program, preferably with a focus on Geotechnical Engineering;
  • Experience working in a geotechnical, aggregate or concrete lab;
  • Must own a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage and hold a valid driver’s license;
  • Be able to carry up to 50lbs
  • Good written and verbal communication skills;
  • Strong organizational skills; and,
  • Knowledge of drilling procedures is an asset.

The salary for this position will be commensurate with the years of relevant experience and qualifications that the successful candidate brings to the role.
