About the role
Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. Work site environment: All weather conditions. Work setting: Apartment/condominium complex. Motel. Room and board provided. Tasks: Sweep, mop, scrub and wax hallways, floors and stairs. Operate industrial vacuum cleaners to remove scraps, dirt, heavy debris and other refuse. Empty trash cans and other waste containers. Wash windows, interior walls and ceilings. Make adjustments and minor repairs to heating, cooling, ventilation, plumbing and electrical systems, and contact tradespersons for major repairs. Contact contractors for repairs and maintenance of the establishment. Perform minor repairs on appliances. Perform safety and security checks. Move heavy furniture, equipment and supplies. Perform other routine maintenance jobs such as painting and drywall repair. Water and tend to plants, lawns and/or gardens. Clean and disinfect bathrooms and fixtures. Work with minimal supervision. Clean snow and ice from walkways and parking areas. Equipment: Industrial vacuum cleaners/power sweepers. Carpet cleaning machine. Polishing machines. Waxing machine. Steam cleaners. Power tools. Power lawn mowers. Security system. Swimming pool maintenance and cleaning equipment. Upholstery cleaning equipment. Snowblower. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Work under pressure. Repetitive tasks. Handling heavy loads. Physically demanding. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Weight handling: Up to 45 kg (100 lbs). Personal suitability: Dependability. Flexibility. Initiative.
