Digital History Collection Indexing Technician
About the role
Under the direction of the Supervisor, Collections, the Digital History Collections Indexing Technician will ensure, create and document consistent searchable indexes for the efficient retrieval of digitized historical newspaper content using authorized indexing standards and tools. This includes the review and updating of existing content and reviewing for additional content and applying appropriate indexing.
Job Requirements

Student working toward diploma or degree in Library & Information Science, Archival Studies, or related field.

Strong attention to detail.

Familiarity with indexing standards and metadata creation. Includes Library of Congress Subject Headings (LCSH) and Thesaurus for Graphic Materials.

Basic knowledge of archival practices and digital file management.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or database systems.

Knowledge of historical documents or newspaper formats and terminology

Knowledge of library science or information management principles.

Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
