Operations Technologist 74,009.08 - $84,153.39 annually
BC Timber Sales (BCTS) is a unique program of the Ministry of Forests. Working collaboratively with regional and district operations, BCTS plans, develops and auctions a substantial portion of the province’s annual available timber volume. BCTS operates as a for profit entity within a government organization.
In this role, you will be responsible for contract management, coordinating technical activities, and ensuring adherence to legislative and environmental standards. You’ll also provide technical expertise in areas such as tenure development, road and block layout, silviculture and forestry contract administration. Your work will contribute directly to the Market Pricing System, supporting timber auctions and enhancing forest practices, ultimately impacting sustainable forest management for the benefit of communities and the environment. Qualifications for this role include: An equivalent combination of education or experience such as five (5) years of experience in one (1) or more area of operational field forestry. Operational field forestry activities include one or more of the following: Timber harvesting monitoring/conformance Cut-block development Forest road engineering Silviculture Timber tenure development and administration Applicants must be registered or eligible for registration with the Forest Professionals of British Columbia (FPBC) as a Registered Forest Technologist or equivalent. Must possess at minimum a valid Class 5 B.C. Driver’s License that does not limit or restrict the ability to conduct the duties of the job.
