About the role
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Power Systems Engineer III based in Canada. This role sits at the center of modern grid innovation, contributing to advanced power system modelling and electromagnetic transient (EMT) studies that support the design of a more resilient and intelligent energy network. The position involves working on complex transmission and distribution challenges, including system stability, transient behavior, and power quality analysis. You will contribute to both steady-state and dynamic studies, helping validate and refine models that inform critical infrastructure decisions. The role offers strong exposure to industry-leading simulation tools and cutting-edge engineering methodologies. You will collaborate with senior engineers and multidisciplinary teams while also supporting knowledge sharing and technical mentorship internally. This is a highly impactful position for an engineer passionate about shaping the future of energy systems. \n
Accountabilities: Perform advanced EMT and power system studies including temporary and switching overvoltage, insulation coordination, harmonics, flicker, transient recovery voltage, energization, and lightning performance analysis. Develop and validate dynamic generator and load models, including disturbance ride-through tuning and model benchmarking using industry-standard simulation platforms. Conduct steady-state and power system studies such as load flow, short circuit analysis, and power quality assessments. Build and maintain accurate system models using tools such as PSCAD, PSS®E, ETAP, and related specialized software for electromagnetic and grid analysis. Support compliance with industry standards including IEEE, IEC, and CIGRÉ requirements in all technical deliverables. Contribute to internal technical development, mentoring junior engineers and supporting continuous improvement of modelling practices and methodologies. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in power systems. 2+ years of experience in power system modelling, EMT studies, or grid analysis within utility, consulting, or energy environments. Strong hands-on experience with simulation tools such as PSCAD, PSS®E, ETAP or equivalent platforms. Solid understanding of power system fundamentals including steady-state and dynamic behavior, fault analysis, and system stability. Familiarity with control system tuning, transmission line studies, or data center power systems is considered an asset. Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex system behaviors and translate findings into actionable engineering insights. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary technical teams. Benefits: Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage with 100% premium coverage for employees Generous paid time off and company holidays Employee ownership program (MyShare) 401(k) retirement plan with up to 4% employer match (fully vested from day one) Remote-first flexibility with occasional travel (up to 10%) Opportunity to work alongside industry-leading experts in power systems and grid modernization
