The Opportunity As a Geotechnical Engineer-in-Training (EIT) at PRI, you will assist in the planning, execution, and analysis of a variety of geotechnical engineering projects. Working closely with experienced Professional Engineers and technical staff, you will gain hands-on experience in site investigations, laboratory testing, engineering analysis, and report preparation. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop your technical skills while contributing to projects involving foundations, earthworks, slope stability assessments, and geotechnical investigations across a range of sectors. Key Responsibilities Assist with planning and coordinating field investigations, including borehole drilling, in-situ testing, and groundwater monitoring. Conduct and document field testing while ensuring compliance with health and safety requirements. Support laboratory testing programs for soil and rock samples and review test results. Process and interpret geotechnical data to develop subsurface profiles and engineering recommendations. Prepare draft geotechnical reports, figures, tables, and supporting calculations. Perform routine geotechnical analyses, including bearing capacity, settlement, and slope stability assessments under supervision. Maintain project records, databases, and technical documentation. Participate in construction monitoring, site inspections, and instrumentation programs. Collaborate with environmental, civil, and engineering teams on multidisciplinary projects. Ensure adherence to company quality, safety, and environmental standards. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering, or a related discipline. Registered as an EIT or eligible for registration with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO). Previous co-op, internship, or professional experience in geotechnical engineering is considered an asset. Familiarity with field investigation techniques, soil and rock classification, and geotechnical laboratory testing. Experience with geotechnical software, CAD, or GIS platforms is an asset. Strong analytical, organizational, and technical writing skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Ability and willingness to perform fieldwork in varying weather conditions and travel to project sites as required. Strong commitment to safety, professionalism, and continuous learning.
