Job Description

We are currently hiring for an Intermediate Water Resources Engineer based in Edmonton supporting municipal infrastructure and land development projects. The role operates within multidisciplinary engineering teams delivering hydraulic modeling and design services across subdivisions, urban development, and civil infrastructure programs.

The position contributes to planning, design, and delivery phases for stormwater management, sanitary and water conveyance systems, and roadway-related drainage infrastructure. Work includes regulatory submissions, municipal approvals, and coordination across engineering disciplines to meet municipal design standards and environmental requirements.

The ideal candidate brings 3–7 years of experience in water resources or municipal engineering, with demonstrated exposure to hydraulic modeling, stormwater system design, and technical documentation for development approvals. Experience working on land development or municipal servicing projects is essential to support end-to-end project execution.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver hydraulic modeling and water resources analysis for municipal servicing, stormwater management, and conveyance systems. Prepare and review technical reports, design drawings, and regulatory submissions for municipal approvals. Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering design across land development, infrastructure, and utility systems. Support planning and execution of stormwater management systems, including ponds, drainage networks, and LID solutions. Conduct design review to ensure constructability, regulatory compliance, and cost efficiency. Provide technical oversight of hydraulic modeling outputs using PCSWMM, MIKE, WaterCAD, and SewerCAD. Participate in stakeholder coordination with municipalities, developers, and regulatory authorities. Contribute to proposal development and business development activities, including technical input for submissions. Perform quality control checks across project phases, ensuring adherence to municipal engineering standards. Monitor regulatory changes and apply best practices in sustainable and resilient infrastructure design. Support construction phase services, including design clarifications and technical reporting.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have the following background, skills and attributes:

Completion of a university degree in Civil Engineering or Water Resources Engineering. A masters degree in Water Resources Engineering is an asset. 3 to 7 years of design experience on municipal servicing projects, or residential, commercial and industrial land development projects. Alberta experience is preferred. Licensed as a Professional Engineer in Alberta (APEGA) and in good standing. Working knowledge of various software for planning and design of water infrastructure facilities (AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcView GIS, PCSWMM, Mike suite, WaterCAD, SewerCAD) required. Experience with automation, including but not limited to Dynamo and Python, is considered an asset. Excellent oral and written communication skills in English. French bilingual is considered an asset. Strong attention to detail, problem solving skills, time management and ability to think creatively; Sound understanding of land development and municipal engineering fundamentals. Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work effectively independently or as part of a team Possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a vehicle with valid registration and insurance.
