Conditions of employment

Conditions of Employment:
Reliability and Security: Reliability Status.
Possession of a valid class 5 Alberta driver’s license, or other provincial/territorial equivalency.
Ability and willingness to work overtime including evenings and weekends.
Ability and willingness to perform physically demanding work activities including moderate to heavy manual labour requiring bending and lifting heavy objects (up to 22 kg).
Ability and willingness to potentially work extended periods outdoors under various environmental conditions (dust, hot, cold, noise, insects) with limited exposure to farm chemicals.
Ability and willingness to take all mandatory training that applies directly to the daily duties on the cropping operations crew such as Forklift tickets, Microsoft program courses and air brakes.
Ability and willingness to obtain a pesticide license within the first year of employment.

Under normal safety precautions, ability and willingness to work with hazardous materials.
Known allergies must be controlled through the use of personal protective equipment and/or medication and must not impinge upon the duties to be performed.

Your application must clearly explain how you meet the following

Experience:
Experience in the operation and maintenance of plot scale (for example harvesters, seeders, sprayers) or farm equipment (for example tractors, combine, farm trucks).
Experience working with field crops and weed species.

Abilities:
Ability to identify major crop species grown in Western Canada.
Ability to perform basic data entry and data management using Microsoft Excel and Word.
Ability to record information for the purposes of record keeping – accurately and legibly.
Ability to make simple mathematical calculations.

Possession of a valid Pesticide Applicator License.

Experience:
Experience operating irrigation equipment such as pivots, linears, wheel moves, and irrigation pumps.

Preference
