About the Role:

We are seeking a Senior Data Governance Specialist for our Information Technology team. Reporting to the Director, Enterprise Data Management the successful incumbent will contribute to the Enterprise Data Management Team in the continued development, implementation, and execution of the Data Governance program at CAAT**.** Work closely with business units to ensure data governance standards and best practices are being applied consistently across the organization and help establish data ownership and stewardship concepts at CAAT.

As the Newest Member of our Team, You’ll:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive data governance frameworks, policies, and standards to ensure data integrity and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with IT and business units to enhance data quality and ensure consistent data usage across the organization.
  • Lead the design and operation of data governance tools and data quality metrics to monitor compliance with data governance policies.
  • Lead the ongoing operation of the Data Classification program, including developing and maintaining policies and standards, chairing the Data Classification Working Group, providing guidance to business users, and monitoring adoption and compliance
  • Oversee the resolution of data quality issues through the appropriate choice of error detection and correction, process control and improvement, or process design strategies.
  • Work with data governance roles such as Data Owners/stewards to ensure they understand their roles and responsibilities, providing advisory guidance and support to ensure Data Governance accountabilities are understood.
  • Create and maintain metadata repositories such as data catalogs, report catalogs, business glossaries.
  • Manage meta data operations by developing and maintaining artifacts and solutions that include data catalogs, business glossary, data classification, data quality, data sharing, data access, data lineage documentation, data retention, governance roles and responsibilities.
  • Develop and implement a training program to enable the success of data governance across the organization that includes usage of data governance tools, maintaining key documentation, user guides and other training materials.
  • Facilitate data governance committee meetings and act as a liaison between stakeholders to address data-related challenges and opportunities.
  • Develop, monitor and report on data governance KPIs and metrics.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, technologies, and regulations to ensure the data governance program remains effective and compliant.

To Succeed, You Bring:

  • Bachelors or master’s in information management, computer science, engineering, mathematics, statistics or equivalent.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in data governance or data controls.
  • Three (3) years of technical experience in defining and implementing data governance best practices, documenting data flow & process mapping, responsible for metadata management, data quality, KPIs and metrics.
  • CDMP or other Data Management professional certification is an asset.
  • Strong understanding of data protection laws and regulations relevant to the financial industry.
  • Hands-on experience with tools such as Collibra, Microsoft Purview, Ovaledge, or similar tools.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and under tight deadlines.
  • Experience working with a metadata cataloguing, categorizing and lineage platform.

The target hiring salary for this position is $107,000 – 133,700. Placement within our salary range will be based on factors such as internal equity, market conditions, and the candidate’s experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
