About the role

Job Description What is the Opportunity? As the Director, Insurance Data Management Office, you will provide strategic leadership and oversight for Data Management, Privacy Governance, and AI Governance across RBC Insurance. Acting as both a first line of defense for data, privacy, and AI risks and a strategic transformation leader, you will drive insurance-wide governance, regulatory compliance, innovation, and value realization initiatives. This role partners closely with senior business leaders, enterprise functions, and external stakeholders to ensure data and AI is leveraged responsibly while enabling business growth and digital transformation. What will you do? Define and execute RBC Insurance’s Data, Privacy, and AI Governance strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements. Lead data governance, privacy risk management, AI governance, and regulatory compliance programs across the Insurance platform. Act as the primary Data Steward, first line of defense and strategic risk advisor for data, privacy, and AI matters, partnering with senior leaders, enterprise functions, and regulatory stakeholders. Drive effective data management, quality and governance capabilities within large-scale data and digital transformation initiatives. Establish data quality, protection, risk assessment, and information management frameworks to safeguard critical business data assets. Build and lead a high-performing team while fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making, innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement. What do you need to succeed? Must Have 12-15 years of experience in financial services, including 8+ years in leadership roles. Proven expertise in Data Governance, Data Management, Privacy Risk Management, and AI Governance within a regulated environment. Extensive experience leading large-scale regulatory, data, digital, or business transformation initiatives. Strong knowledge of data privacy regulations, risk management practices, and governance frameworks (e.g., PIPEDA, GDPR, AI governance). Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and lead cross-functional teams in complex enterprise environments. Master’s or MBA in a relevant field, combined with exceptional communication, strategic thinking, and leadership capabilities. Nice to Have Professional certifications in Data Management, Privacy, AI Governance, or related disciplines. Experience within the Insurance industry and strong understanding of the Insurance regulatory landscape. Knowledge of emerging technologies including AI/ML, cloud platforms, advanced analytics, and modern data architecture. Experience establishing strategic partnerships with technology vendors, industry consortiums, consulting firms, or academic institutions. What’s in it for you?
