Bring your passion, your ideas, and let's do this.Description Based at the Heartland Petrochemical Complex (HPC) north of Fort Saskatchewan, the Operations Technician, Propane Dehydrogenation (PDH) will report directly to the PDH Shift Supervisor. The initial assignment for the Operations Technician PDH will be is to train and qualify in the Oleflex/Fractionation field position and progress to the Oleflex/Fractionation console position. Inter Pipeline is seeking individuals who place value in creating a great working culture which is in alignment with our core values. The selected candidate would continue post qualifications as per HPC Operations Technician Progression Program. Key Activities and Responsibilities • Work closely with the PDH Leadership and Operations Shift teams to execute operational targets, goals, and plans• Monitor plant performance, maintain operating discipline, and take corrective action as required• Safely operate and maintain the plant utilizing HPC Manuals, Operating Procedures, Operating Instructions, Value Added Tasks, and Daily Rounds • Participate in HSSE initiatives and demonstrate strong commitment to Safety at the facility• Perform minor maintenance tasks as per Operating Procedures and Manuals• Effectively communicate at shift handover• Prepare plant equipment for maintenance including decontamination and energy isolation• Successful candidate is required to be a member of the Emergency Response TeamEducation, Skills and Experience • Power or Chemical Engineering Diploma preferred• ABSA certification 3rd class. Consideration may be given to candidates who hold a 4th class certification, provided progression towards 3rd certification and demonstrate a clear commitment to obtaining it within a set timeframe• 5+ years plant operations experience in the Petrochemical/Refinery/Upgrader industries is preferred• Strong technical understanding of plant processes, equipment, and automation• Preference will be given to those with previous control room operator experience• Analytical and troubleshooting skills• Attention to detail and well-developed interpersonal skills are requiredHours Full time shift work (days/nights), 12-hour shifts Longer term this position will regularly rotate between console and field posts. As this position is identified as safety and/or security sensitive, employment of a final candidate will be conditional upon completion of pre-employment medical, drug/alcohol, criminal record check and drivers abstract assessments with satisfactory results. Additionally, candidates will be required to adhere to company policies including those that relate to the proper use of personal protective equipment and, where applicable and available, human rights accommodation will be made.
