Your Day-to-Day as a Heavy Duty Mechanic:

Technical Responsibilities

  • Perform routine daily maintenance on mobile equipment to ensure safety, quality, productivity, and compliance with environmental policies.
  • Install, maintain, inspect, and repair a variety of Mobile equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment failures and issues.
  • Collaborate with other trades in a team environment to enhance safety, efficiency, quality, and production.

Shutdown and Strategic Capital Projects

  • Provide assistance and expertise for projects, including planning as needed.
  • Work together with Drax staff to ensure safety, efficiency, quality, and timely project execution.

Mentorship and Leadership for Maintenance Staff

  • Advocate for the Drax Zero Harm, actively contributing to a safe and healthy work environment by adhering to standards and procedures and complying with legislation and regulations.

What you’ll bring:
To excel in this vital role, you’ll need:

  • Red Seal Certified Trades Professional Designation
  • Over 5 years of progressive experience in heavy industry
  • Completed a journeyman apprenticeship in the trade
  • Knowledgeable in various maintenance practices
  • Skilled in building rapport and fostering working relationships with key stakeholders, using a collaborative and supportive approach to achieve goals
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Confident in challenging the status quo and influencing as necessary
  • Self-motivated and decisive, with the ability to adapt to change and manage competing demands
  • Effective problem solver with the capability to identify and implement resolutions
  • Willing and able to work a flexible schedule as needed, including on-call support for the Plant Management Team.
