Job Description

The Quality Coordinator (Rail & Track) supports the delivery of quality assurance and control activities across rail and track construction works. The role is responsible for coordinating inspections, maintaining ITPs and quality records, and ensuring full traceability of materials and documentation. This position works closely with field teams and stakeholders to monitor track installation activities including alignment, ballast, and rail systems ensuring compliance with project specifications and rail industry standards.

Responsibilities Coordinate with Civil, Structural and Rail/Track teams to schedule and track Hold and Witness points. Daily site reviews of subtrade works. Conducting quality activities aligned with project scope as per the contract terms and conditions. Performing visual examinations, witnessing, monitoring, and/or documenting as per project quality and inspection testing plans. Liaising with Owner representatives and consultants on quality related items. Monthly written quality reports. Preparation and issuance of NCR’s, NCR follow-up and logging Staying current with industry practices and technologies and seeking new and innovative construction methods and processes. Support preparation of ITP close-out and handover packages. Assisting Site Superintendent with some daily data collection tasks. Preparation of CAD sketches to assist with RFI submissions and subtrade coordination. Reviewing schedules. Ensure full traceability between design documents, inspections, NCRs, and completion records. Liaise with subcontractors and internal teams (engineering, construction, materials) to obtain missing documentation and resolve quality issues. Support quality control activities related to track installation, including: Subgrade and ballast inspections Track alignment, gauge, and tolerances Rail fastening systems and installation verification Turnouts, crossings, and special trackwork Coordinate inspections related to rail welding, stressing, and alignment. Ensure compliance with applicable rail standards, specifications, and project requirements. Maintain quality records specific to rail systems, including inspection logs, test results, and as built documentation.

Qualifications Degree or diploma from an accredited engineering program, construction management program, or a related discipline. 2-5 years of construction experience, with exposure to rail/track works preferred or required. Working knowledge of pertinent regulations, codes, and specifications related to construction. Ability to demonstrate leadership, even in situations without authority. Experience with Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), quality documentation, and field inspections. Working knowledge of construction specifications, codes, and standards (rail/transit experience is a strong asset). Familiarity with quality management systems (ISO 9001 or similar).
