Key Qualifications:
- Graduate of a recognized program in Biomedical Engineering Technology and/or an equivalent education.
- Certified by the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT) or equivalent from another province preferred but not required.
- Certified by the International Certification Commission (ICC) as a CBET(c) preferred but not required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills combined with a customer focus approach is essential.
- Ability to work independently as well as a member of a dynamic team. Excellent interpersonal skills and teamwork.
- Demonstrate understanding of and ability to deliver excellent customer service. Demonstrated effective decision-making skills.
- Strong organizational skills combined with advanced problem-solving abilities. Excellent work and attendance record is essential.
- General familiarity with computer hardware and their application programs, including enhanced knowledge of clinical; networks, servers, system architecture, Ethernet communication, computer operating systems & on-going patching of medical device software.
- Experience with device integration with capsule as middle ware in the Epic environment will be an asset.
- Advanced mechanical aptitude. Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
- Advanced familiarity with current clinical equipment and their application.
Position Summary:
The position is based on Q-site and will be covering Q-site devices including the Orthopedic and Rehab units, UHN- RCC expansion, Bristol circle. The staff will also be asked to provide backup coverage for all satellite sites and as operational or PM needs arise, the staff may be moved to other sites across THP to provide assistance.
- Ensure that the KPIs, for all equipment priorities, falling under the portfolio of this position are met consistently.
- To assist and facilitate the customer relationship between clinical staff and Biomedical Engineering for equipment service/management requirements.
- To assist in the identification of practices necessary to enhance Biomedical Engineering practice with the goal of optimizing and enhancing productivity.
- To perform repair and maintenance on medical equipment which forms part of the inventory of a patient care program, and equipment belonging to other patient care programs as required, including:
- Trouble shooting complex medical equipment such as critical life support or one-of-a-kind equipment
- Problem solving regarding medical equipment performance issues
- Investigating hazards and alerts associated with medical equipment
- To be responsible for responding to requests for support during periods of clinical difficulty at the patient’s bedside. Support can be technical or clinical in nature.
Maintains a safe work environment for coworkers, patients and visitors. Collaborate and fill in for team members, as the need arise, to ensure continuity of operations. This position will require the staff to move across sites.
