Heavy Duty Red Seal Mechanic
Onsite | Burnaby, BC | Full-time, Permanent (Non-exempt)
TRAXX Coachlines is seeking a Red Seal Heavy Duty / Commercial Transport Mechanic with CVIP to support our fleet of motor coaches and shuttle buses through safe, efficient repairs and preventative maintenance. Reporting to the Director of Maintenance and working closely with the Shop Supervisor, you will join a team committed to safety and service excellence.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Inspect, test, diagnose, adjust, repair, and maintain commercial motor coaches, buses, and related vehicles in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
- Perform government inspections (CVIP) as licensed/qualified.
- Complete regular checks of the yard and buses for damage; review driver-reported defects; and update and maintain records of motor coaches and shuttles in the yard.
- Check and schedule inspections as indicated on the inspection board.
- Create, issue, track, and update work orders.
- Work collaboratively and communicate with the maintenance team and other members of the organization.
- Escalate significant maintenance issues as required.
Qualifications & Experience
Required
- Red Seal Certified Truck and Transport or Heavy Duty Mechanic
- 3+ years of heavy-duty mechanic experience (or relevant, related experience).
- Strong knowledge of provincial CVSE standards and the Federal Motor Vehicle Act.
- Established knowledge of diesel engines; transmissions; electrical and electronic systems; brake systems; fuel/ignition/emission systems; driveline components; and HVAC systems.
- Working knowledge of diagnostic computers and software.
- Ability to adapt in an environment with changing priorities and interruptions.
- High school diploma or GED.
Assets (or obtainable after hire)
- CVIP license is a strong asset or must be willing and able to obtain
- Valid driver’s license with air endorsement
- Ability to obtain a Class 2 license if not currently held
- Knowledge of motor coach operating certificates and specifications as they relate to maintenance.
Working Conditions & Schedule

Onsite maintenance workshop environment with exposure to changing weather; some outdoor work is required.

Work requires significant attention to detail, multi-tasking, and priority setting.

Eight (8) hours per day, Monday to Friday.

Occasional evenings and weekends; longer hours may be required during peak season (Spring–Summer).
