About the role

As our new Modelling Hydrogeologist , you will join a dynamic and experienced team of environmental specialists, working together to achieve this goal.
As a member of our Hydrogeology team, you will bring demonstrated skills and experience executing hydrogeological models, and in providing practical solutions to address the characterization, development, management, protection and remediation of groundwater resources. In addition to strong technical skills, you’ll also have a solid background in the development of technical scopes of work, proposal preparation, and the successful delivery of projects, meeting high standards for quality and client satisfaction.

You will also:
- Create conceptual site models (CSMs) to analyze and interpret hydrogeological information
- Construct, calibrate, and operate 3D numerical groundwater models
- Prepare hydrogeological technical reports for submission to clients and regulators
- Work with multidisciplinary teams to integrate hydrogeological findings and interpretations with those of other scientific, planning, and engineering disciplines
- Help ensure successful project delivery with respect to health & safety, scope, schedule, budget, QA/QC, and client satisfaction
- Undertake occasional field work and help oversee the collection of information by junior scientists/hydrogeologists
- Prepare proposals and contribute to the development and execution of service line, business sector, and client business development plans
- Liaise and build relationships with clients and ensure excellent service delivery
- Mentor junior hydrogeologists and participate in internal and external training/mentorship opportunities

- The salary range for this position is $90,000 - $120,000. Final agreed upon compensation will be commensurate with individual education, professional designation, experience, internal parity, and location.

Qualifications

3-7 years of experience in a similar hydrogeological role in the environmental services or mining industry

Knowledge of conceptual site models that consider aquifer characteristics, groundwater quality and geochemistry and overall water balance at both the local and regional scale

Working knowledge of MODFLOW and demonstrated ability to construct, calibrate, and operate groundwater models with minimal supervision

Familiarity with software packages such as Leapfrog, Groundwater Vistas, FEFLOW, Python, Aqtesolv, and Surfer would be considered an asset

Broad knowledge of environmental site assessment, site remediation and hydrogeology (water resource management, groundwater chemistry, aquifer development, and surface water-groundwater interactions)

Working knowledge of provincial, local and industry specific regulations and guidelines

Experience with the design, supervision, and analysis of aquifer testing and monitoring programs to characterize the physical and geochemical characteristics of the subsurface environment

Undergraduate degree in earth sciences. Master’s degree in hydrogeology or equivalent strongly preferred

Valid driver’s license and regular access to a reliable vehicle required for travel to job sites/clients
