Position Overview Reporting: The Construction Calculator will report directly to the Drafting Team Lead. Role: As a Construction Calculator, you will play a key role in supporting construction surveying and infrastructure projects through accurate calculations, data processing, quality control, and technical analysis. Working closely with Project Managers, Drafting Team Lead, and field crews, you will prepare layout data, verify design information, calculate quantities and volumes, and process survey data to ensure projects are delivered accurately and efficiently.

Responsibilities: Apply an understanding of complex infrastructure construction with direct experience calculating material volumes and structural geometry for highways, bridges, heavy and light rail, and underground utilities. Knowledge in interpreting construction surveying layout data, digital terrain models (DTMs), control networks and calculate precise earthwork, excavation, and grading volumes. Review design drawings and models to identify layout discrepancies, volume inconsistencies, or missing information before construction begins. Prepare and format layout files, coordinate points, and alignment data for use by field crews Process raw survey data into accurate as-built drawings that document completed infrastructure. Perform field data processing, quality control, blunder detection, and data validation. Process and manage 3D scan and point cloud data for engineering and construction applications. Apply knowledge of local coordinate systems, network coordinate systems, and geodetic datums. Maintain a general understanding of industries that intersect with surveying, including civil engineering, municipal infrastructure, vertical construction, and underground utilities. Support high-precision settlement monitoring, deformation monitoring, 3D structural monitoring, and vibration analysis projects. Utilize software including AutoCAD Civil 3D, BricsCAD, Trimble Business Center (TBC), and MicroStation. Familiarity with MTO (Ministry of Transportation) or Metrolinx drawing standards and specifications. Ensure compliance with AOLS and IBW standards, policies, and procedures. Recognize when consultation with a Project Manager or Team Lead is required. Communicate effectively with clients, project teams, and internal staff. Demonstrate strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills while managing multiple priorities and deadlines. Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $30 - $38/hr. Comprehensive health and dental benefits, RRSP with employer matched contributions, training & development, and educational assistance is provided.
