The Quality Manager will be responsible for the implementation, management and coordination of all activities related to the QMS and FSMS. This includes but is not limited to: GMP, GDP, HACCP, EMP, FMEA, Food fraud and food defense. This role ensures full compliance with ISO, GFSI and customer-specific standards.
The position plays a key leadership role in protecting product integrity, regulatory compliance, and customer confidence.
What You Will Be Doing
Perform all work in accordance with the highest standards of Smurfit Westrock safety policies and ensure all quality and food safety systems operate in full compliance. Own and maintain site certifications including but not limited to ISO 9001, GFSI & CHOC, as well as any additional customer or regulatory certifications. Complete GEMBA walks of operations to reinforce compliance with GMPs and promote a quality and food safe culture. Implement and maintain HACCP & EMP programs. Attend to ad-hoc requirements such as customer calls, internal quality calls ect. Act as primary site representative during external certification audits, customer audits, and regulatory inspections. Lead the internal audit program and ensure timely closure of corrective and preventive actions. Maintain and continuously improve the Quality Management System (QMS) and Food Safety Management System (FSMS). Complete testing on WIP materials to ensure conformance. Quality tasks such as driving root cause analysis, maintaining documents control, managing customer, internal and supplier non-conformances and completing supplier evaluations. Monitor and report Quality KPIs as required. Complete mock recalls and mock disaster events in accordance with the standards. Mainatin asset calibration activities and schedule. Complete and review site FEMA, CP and equipment validations. Complete tasks related to forestry sustainability and product stewardship. Support cross-functional teams (Production, Maintenance, Supply Chain, R&D) to ensure compliance is embedded in daily operations. Ensure proper management of non-conforming materials and disposition processes. Coordinate training programs related to quality standards, food safety, GMP and certification requirements. Ensure readiness for unannounced audits and maintain continuous audit preparedness. Partner with divisional Quality and Regulatory teams to align site practices with corporate standards and global best practices. Support environmental and sustainability compliance requirements linked to certification standards where applicable. Other duties as assigned.
Education/Qualification/Experience
What you need to succeed:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Food Science, or related field. Minimum 5 years of experience managing Quality Systems within a manufacturing environment. Demonstrated experience leading ISO 9001 and Food Safety certification audits (FSSC 22000, SQF or similar). Strong working knowledge of HACCP principles and regulatory compliance. Lead Auditor certification preferred. Experience with packaging or food contact materials strongly preferred.
Knowledge
Strong knowledge of Quality Management Systems and audit methodologies. Deep understanding of Food Safety regulations and GMP requirements. Knowledge of corporate and environmental policies. Familiarity with customer-specific certification requirements and supplier qualification processes.

Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Strong organizational and documentation management skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and quality reporting systems.
This posting is for an existing job vacancy. The salary range for this position is $73,500 - $122,500. The range listed is the expected pay for roles in Ontario, Canada.
