The Carpenter Assistant assists the Lead Carpenter in execution of Capital Projects at the direction of the Chief Project Inngineer and in collaboration with Operational Maintenance when required.
As a Carpenter Assistant you will:
- Ensure efficient and personalized guest service meeting and exceeding Relais & Châteaux, AAA 4 & 5 Diamond and Forbes Standards.
- Be true to Our Promise, meet and exceed the service philosophies and standards of the Inn.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements.
- Prepare layouts in conformance with building codes using measuring tools.
- Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials.
- Maintain, repair, and renovate wooden structures.
- Fit and install trim items such as doors, stairs, molding, and hardware with a high attention to detail suited to luxury hospitality standards.
- Help build foundations, install floor beams, and erect wall and roof systems during facility renovations.
- Inspect wooden structures including decks, railings, and siding for signs of wear or damage and perform proactive repairs to prevent deterioration.
- Maintain and safely operate power saws, jointers, planers, and hand tools, ensuring all equipment is cleaned and stored according to SOPs.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace while adhering to all WorkSafeBC regulations and hotel safety protocols.
- May prepare cost estimates.
- Schedule and co-ordinate work on sites
- Work outdoors for a variety of tasks.

- A valid BC Class 5 Driver's License. Applicants must be eligible for a BC Class 5 driver’s license and have a minimum of two years of clean driving experience in their home country.
- The ability to make a commitment to the position for a mutually understood and agreed upon period of time.
