Global Functions Technology (GFT) is part of RBC’s Technology and Operations division. Our clients represent Risk, Finance, HR, CAO, Audit, Legal, Compliance, Financial Crime, Capital Markets, Personal and Commercial Banking and Wealth Management. We also lead the development of digital tools and platforms to enhance collaboration. What will you do? Lead a global team of Systems Engineers, SREs and DevOps engineers to ensure seamless IT support for critical applications, drive tech currency migrations, and manage IT risk while fostering innovation and operational excellence. Oversee a globally distributed team of 20+ IT professionals, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, performance management, and talent development. Foster a collaborative, inclusive culture with a focus on continuous improvement and cross-functional partnerships. Directly report to SLT, providing transparent updates on IT performance, risks, and strategic initiatives. Align IT priorities with SLT objectives, ensuring technology enables business growth and resilience. Manage end-to-end support for 15+ production applications, including AI/ML systems, ensuring high availability, performance, and scalability. Implement proactive monitoring, incident resolution, and root-cause analysis to minimize downtime. Lead technology currency migrations (e.g., cloud adoption, platform upgrades) to align with business needs and industry trends. Partner with stakeholders to assess legacy systems, prioritize modernization efforts, and execute seamless transitions. Oversee IT risk management, including threat mitigation, vulnerability assessments, and adherence to regulatory standards Collaborate with GFT IT Risk Teams, cybersecurity and audit teams to ensure robust controls. Ensure reliable support for AI applications, including data pipeline management, embeddings deployment, and performance tuning. Work with dev teams to align IT infrastructure with AI/ML workloads, see through production deployments of new AI solutions. Develop and execute IT roadmaps, balancing operational stability with innovation. Manage budgets, vendor relationships, and cost optimization initiatives. Build strong relationships with business units, vendors, and senior leadership to align IT priorities with organizational objectives. Communicate technical strategies and outcomes in a business-centric manner. What you need to succeed? Must Have's Application uptime and performance. Progress on tech currency initiatives and risk mitigation milestones. Team engagement, retention, and skill development – AI skills, developer productivity etc. 10+ years in IT leadership roles, with experience managing global teams and complex application portfolios. Expertise in legacy and modern infrastructure, Linux, Window, cloud platforms (OpenShift, Azure), DevOps tools in RBC and IT service management (ITIL). Strong understanding of RBC’s IT risk frameworks and compliance requirements. Proven ability to drive tech modernization and manage large-scale migrations. Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills. Nice to Have's: Experience in delivering AI and ML Ops solutions Experience with vendor licensing, support-contract evaluations, commercial -risk analysis, or enterprise procurement.
