We have an exciting opportunity for a Process Designer 1 to join our Vaughan, Ontario team and assist senior staff with designing and implementing manufacturing processes, equipment, and plants (from pilot to fully operational). The assignments include specific tasks on project teams, and you will use your education, creativity, and expertise to resolve engineering problems and tasks as assigned.
Additional Responsibilities
Generating PFDs, P&IDs, process equipment and instrument data sheets as well as supporting narratives. Adhering to process and manufacturing design scopes of work for each project and alerting appropriate staff about changes or requests for additional services. Assisting with the preparation of engineering studies and schematic design for new systems and analyzing the operation of existing systems. Ensuring that satisfactory relationships are maintained with clients, consultants, and other vested interests. Providing site support to clients requiring engineering assessments of existing or new processes and equipment. Providing site support on projects designed or constructed by IPS.
Qualifications & Requirements
2+ years of process engineering design experience, preferably in the Pharmaceutical, Biotech, or BioPharm industry. Proven experience generating PFDs, P&IDs, process equipment, and instrument data sheets as well as supporting narratives. General knowledge of system design and applicable codes in process engineering. Has demonstrated strong time management skills and the ability to manage projects, problem solve, and communicate effectively with co-workers. Pharmaceutical, Biotech, or Nutraceutical industry experience is strongly preferred. AutoCAD experience. Enthusiastic and resilient, innovative and technically grounded.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a variety of pharmaceutical projects, including API, OSD, and Aseptic Fill/Finishing.
Physical Demands
Must be able to stand, sit, and walk for prolonged periods. Must possess the ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl as required. Must be able to lift and move objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Must be able to climb ladders as necessary.
Work Environment
Must be able to work in both indoor and outdoor environments, which may include exposure to varying working conditions. Must be able to adhere to strict cleanroom gowning protocol
Travel
This position will require 5-20% travel or as required by the assigned project. You may be assigned to a client site for an extended period. Overnight travel or staying in the city of the Client’s location is possible, depending on the assignment. Please review the IPS Travel Policy. You will visit Client sites and must adhere to stated safety rules. Must have access to reliable transportation. Must have the ability to travel and commute on a daily or routine basis.
Safety
This position is a safety-sensitive position. The employee is designated for field work and attends activities at client sites where they work in construction, process, packaging, manufacturing, research, or other "non-administrative" areas.
All interviews are conducted either in person or virtually, with video required.
