Position: Junior Designer Reports To: Director, Marketing, Communications & Creative Last Updated: June 2026 Qualifications: A full-time or part-time daytime student at Sheridan College with a GPA of at least 2.5, co-op term between the months of September and April. Term: August 2026 - April 30, 2027 Location: Trafalgar Campus in-office / travel is required across all campuses to cover events and assignments. Commitments: 10 - 15 hours per week Pay Rate: $17.87 / hour. SCOPE AND NATURE
Sheridan Student Union Inc. (SSUI) is a student-led organization representing all full-time and day part-time fee-paying students at Sheridan College. Our mission is to create an exceptional student experience through student-focused programs, services, and advocacy. Our vision is to empower our student community to succeed in a changing world. We strive to do this as an active member of the Sheridan community, facilitating opportunities for student leadership, and creating strategic partnerships to improve the quality of life on campus. The Junior Designer is responsible for producing content for print, web, social, and digital spaces. As a Junior Designer, you’ll have the freedom to explore new designs and add your personal touch to projects while also maintaining brand guidelines at the SSU. It is the Junior Designer’s responsibility to ensure that Sheridan students receive information about SSU advocacy through events, clubs, and services and more in clear, accessible, and engaging ways by leveraging good graphic design practices (and lots of colours). GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: The Junior Designer will work closely with the Marketing, Communications and Creative department to brainstorm and execute SSU print and design work across a wide range of departments and scope. The Junior Designer will be expected to work in a respectful manner with all SSU staff, volunteers, Sheridan College staff, and Sheridan College students. ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE The Junior Designer will report to the Marketing, Communications and Creative Director . They will work alongside other Junior Designers, SSU Photographers, and Videographers. JUNIOR DESIGNER RESPONSIBILITIES: • Design and develop creative work for a wide range of promotional materials across varying mediums (print, web, digital spaces, social media, etc.) • Research current design trends and strategically decide how those trends can be translated into SSU content • Maintain and exceed the quality of work already established at the SSU, while staying true to the brand guidelines • Manage time efficiently to ensure successful and timely completion of any given task • Ensures a positive work environment and culture within the Marketing, Communication and Creative Department, as well as our SSU organization QUALIFICATIONS: • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite programs. • Strong understanding basic design principles (typography, layout, brand application, etc.). • Professional work ethic, exercising of good judgment, tact, and initiative. • Ability to work as part of a team and excel with working independently • Excellent attention to detail and passion for design and creative projects • Ability to conceptualize layout and brand image.
