About the role
Saskatchewan Distance Learning Centre requires 2 permanent full-time Front End Developers. The position can be located in Saskatoon, Regina or Kenaston.
Sask DLC is a Treasury Board Crown Corporation, created to deliver high-quality and equitable online learning programs to students across the province. Sask DLC’s head office is located in Kenaston, with an administrative office in Regina, and regional campuses located in Estevan, Kenaston, La Ronge, Moose Jaw, Meadow Lake, Nipawin, Prince Albert, Regina, Saskatoon, Swift Current and Yorkton.

Reports To
Executive Director of Information Support
Summary
Reporting to the Executive Director of Information Support, this position will work with multiple teams to ensure the branding and design of the online personality of the Sask DLC meets current standards.
Primary Responsibilities
• Build, design, and maintain all websites and software applications, including the organization’s social media platforms.
• Design, write, and edit a variety of organizational print material including brochures, presentations, promotional materials, and website elements.
• Understands user interfaces, cross-browser compatibility, and general web functions and standards.
• Create solutions for identified problems or bugs.
• Execute assignments with the use of web applications.
• Develop and validate test routines to ensure the quality of the external and internal interface.
• Plan and deliver software platforms and products across multiple organizational units.
• Familiar with CSS frameworks such as Bootstrap and web CMS such as Larvel and Statamic.
• Evaluate written code to ensure it meets industry standards and is compatible with all devices.
• Maintain a professional understanding of web development by tracking trends and participating in study groups.
• Support, Maintain LMS system including core system upgrades and plug in maintenance.
• Support, Maintain SIS system including system improvements and maintenance.
• Support, Maintain registration system including API, form building, and maintenance with IT team.
Required Education and Experience
• Ability to create and maintain technical documentation.
• Knowledge of modern HTML/CSS: semantic HTML5, modern CSS (Flexbox, Grid), responsive design, cross-browser compatibility.
• Web APIs & Browser Features: familiarity with Fetch/XHR, localStorage/IndexedDB.
• Version Control with Git workflows (feature, branches).
• Experience using design software such as Photoshop, InDesign, and Adobe Suite.
• The successful candidate will demonstrate their ability to be an effective problem solver with excellent oral and written communication skills and strong organizational and time-management skills in a fast-paced environment.
• Hands-on experience with network diagnostics.
• Familiarity with creating user-friendly and easy-to-navigate web pages that are optimized for all devices.
• Typically, the knowledge, skills and experience required to be successful in this position would have been obtained through successful completion of bachelor’s degree in computer science or graphic design plus 3 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Employment Conditions
• Office environment/setting.
• Typical core office hours (8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) Monday to Friday.
• Travel as required.

WHAT WE OFFER
Sask DLC offers a competitive salary (Level 8 $33.26/hr. to $37.05/hr.) and benefits for this position will be in accordance with C.U.P.E. 5544 Collective Agreement September 1, 2024, to August 31, 2027.
