Confirm findings with supervisor to determine whether to repair or replace unit Discuss work with supervisor Inspect and test mechanical units to locate faults and malfunctions Inspect mechanical units to locate faults and malfunctions Inspect motor in operation Review work orders Road test motor vehicles Test automotive systems and components Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of automotive systems Repair or replace mechanical units or components Test and adjust repaired systems to manufacturer's specifications Estimate parts and labour cost to perform vehicle maintenance and repairs Perform scheduled maintenance service Test and adjust units to specifications Complete reports to record problems and work performed
Requirements No degree, certificate, or diploma required. Must have 5 years or more of work experience. Must be able to communicate either English or French. Must be able to work in a dirty and noisy environment. Must be able to work in a garage setting. Must have own transportation and a valid Driver’s License. Must be able to provide a Driving record check. Must have an Automotive Service Technician Trade Certification. Work conditions and physical capabilities include strong hand-eye co-ordination, attention to detail, and manual dexterity, as well as the ability to stand for extended periods. Own tools/equipment required include tools and steel-toed safety boots. Personal suitability includes accuracy, dependability, excellent written communication, reliability, teamwork, and punctuality. Must be willing to work on-site.
