We are currently looking for a Operations Product Specialist to join our busy and growing manufacturing company.  The successful candidate will be engaged in elevating the department and company to the next level.  The incumbent will be forward looking and thrive in a culture of continuous improvement.

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY

Reporting directly to the V.P. of Operations, the Operations Product Specialist will manage the activities related to a specific product or product transition from one generation to the next. Focusing on the details and technical aspects of the new product transition from Product Development to Operations.

Key Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Track, advance and provide an overall status view of all activities related to a specific product line or product transition through new product introduction
  • Follow up with MET supporting activities to achieve product launch milestones
  • Prepare, maintain, and present project Gantt charts using MS Project to Management on a weekly basis
  • Identify projects to improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, equipment layout by employing lean methodologies and automating manufacturing process where applicable
  • Understand all equipment capabilities, operations, and methods within the products manufacturing processes to ensure superb product quality, process capability and efficiency
  • Develop and recommend ways to improve manufacturing process of the product that could potentially lower production costs and/or improve product quality/reliability and output
  • Assure product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes
  • Provide manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; and implement cost reduction initiatives
  • Initiate and support the activities within Supply Chain related to the product, including but not limited to, ramping down and up of component inventory as required, sourcing, supplier selection, economic order quantities, item settings and FAI processes
  • Recommend process and technical design changes to improve capacity, throughput, quality, cost, and safety
  • Work with cross-functional departments to implement and drive product change requests (PCR)
  • Generate, monitor, and analyze production data to create weekly KPIs
  • Provide engineering support to the Production department to troubleshoot and resolve technical constraints
  • Investigate and implement design and process revisions to reduce quality costs associated with manufacturing scrap, rework, and field warranty
  • Create and maintain Production work instructions related to the product
  • Monitor and implement a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)
  • All other duties as assigned

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Expertise in the use of MS Project
  • Team player that can easily adapt to change
  • Ability to multitask
  • Manufacturing or assembly experience is essential
  • Strong computer skills (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Experience with ERP systems would be an asset
  • Effective communication skills and interpersonal skills, presentation skills are considered an asset
  • Strong attention to detail in design and problem resolution is required

Educational/Experience Requirements:

  • College or University degree (BA or Business Degree) in Manufacturing, Electronics, or Industrial Engineering program
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in manufacturing or assembly
  • Project Management experience required
