What we offer Reporting to the Health and Safety Manager, the Health & Safety Specialist will play a key role in supporting safe, compliant and well-coordinated construction sites across our GTA Multi-Storey communities. Working closely with site leaders, construction teams, trade partners and other stakeholders, this role helps bring Mattamy’s Health and Safety protocols, safe operating procedures and safety programs to life on active project sites. What you’ll do Support the development, implementation and monitoring of project-specific Health & Safety Execution Plans in partnership with the Project Management, Superintendent and Construction teams. Work closely with site leaders, construction teams and trade partners to promote compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act, applicable regulations, Mattamy safety policies and project-specific safety requirements. Monitor site conditions, behaviours and work practices to identify risks and provide practical recommendations that support strong safety performance. Coordinate and support site-specific health and safety orientations, inspections, hazard assessments, toolbox talks, audits and incident investigations as required. Maintain required health and safety documentation and help ensure Mattamy and trade partners complete regular and effective inspections of their work areas. Participate in Mattamy’s Joint Health and Safety Committee and liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including government inspectors, trade contractors and the broader Health & Safety team. Support modified work, rehabilitation and return-to-work plans in partnership with WSIB/WCB, Human Resources and the Area/Corporate Health & Safety team. What you bring At least 2 to 3 years of experience coordinating and managing health and safety in construction and/or residential real estate. University degree or college diploma specializing in occupational health and safety, or a combination of related education, technical training and comparable work experience. Provincial occupational health and safety certification and a valid First Aid/CPR certificate. Strong understanding of construction safety practices, legislation, safety documentation and site-based health and safety programs. Clear and concise communication skills, with strong attention to detail and the ability to build effective working relationships with site teams and trade partners. Highly organized, proactive and resourceful, with the flexibility to plan, prioritize and manage work in an active construction environment. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications and digital health and safety tracking tools. Valid driver’s license, a good driving record and the ability to travel to job sites as required. Bonus points Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) and/or National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) designation. Previous experience investigating, interviewing, documenting and reporting incidents or accidents in a health and safety context. Background in training, education or delivering health and safety programs to individuals or groups. Previous experience in high-rise construction. Compensation The expected base salary range for this position is $57,500 - $87,500. Actual pay may vary depending on your job-related knowledge, competencies, and skills.
