Advance Wire Products Ltd. (AWP) is North America’s leading designer and manufacturer of innovative merchandising solutions for the retail grocery, convenience, and pharmacy market. We are growing and have an immediate need for an experienced Assembly Technician. Since 1953, our team has worked with clients across North America to collaboratively solve basic to complex merchandising and display issues. Wood, metal, and plastic for retail, grocery, pharmacy, kiosks, and beyond. From consultation, to manufacturing, to installation, AWP will make the most ambitious display ideas a reality.

Position Summary:

This is a full-time, unionized position at our facility in Surrey, BC.

Reporting to the Production Manager, the Assembly Technician is responsible for assembling components and unfinished products by interpreting drawings, schematics, and work instructions, while ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards.

This is a union position and the successful candidate will become a member of United Steelworkers Local 2009.

Key Role Responsibilities:

  • Read and follow drawings, schematics and instructions to assemble components and unfinished products

  • Use hand tools and hand machines to perform Assembly operations

  • Ability to handle material using a forklift

  • Conduct visual and dimensional inspection to ensure quality standards of assembly

  • Ability to lead and direct production workers as necessary

  • Maintain company's quality and productivity standards

  • Lift and move materials up to 50 lbs (23kg) as required

  • Maintain a clean, safe and organized work area

  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors or management

Skills and Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings, schematics, and work instructions

  • Proven ability to operate machinery and perform assembly tasks independently.

  • Strong understanding of basic quality control processes and inspection tools (calipers, gauges, etc.).

  • Valid and current Forklift Operator Certification.

  • Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 50 lbs. standing, bending, and walking for extended periods.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Ability to lift, move, and handle materials safely and efficiently

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Reliable attendance and flexibility to work rotating shifts if necessary.

  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
