Prairie Land School Division invites applications for a full time Educational Assistant with a specialized focus on hydroponics. The assignment will commence the first day of the 2026-2027 school year. The successful candidate will oversee the daily operations of the division's Growcer hydroponic system and travel throughout the division to support schools in creating meaningful, hands-on learning opportunities for students. Working collaboratively with teachers and school staff, this position will help establish an engaging educational environment that enriches student learning through practical experiences in hydroponics, plant science, and sustainable agriculture. The successful applicant will serve as a hydroponic specialist, supporting students in developing skills and knowledge related to plant growth, care, and production.
The ideal candidate will possess post-secondary education or training in an agricultural-related field, preferably hydroponics, along with previous experience working in a related area. Candidates should have strong knowledge of plant species, plant requirements related to growing conditions and fertilization, and the ability to identify and respond to plant diseases and pests. The successful applicant will demonstrate the ability to facilitate hands-on learning experiences, follow safe procedures when using fertilizers, pesticides, fungicides, and herbicides, and maintain a high standard of care and organization within the Growcer system. This position requires an individual who is highly motivated, self-directed, adaptable, and able to work independently while building positive relationships with students and staff throughout the division.
